Florence Elizabeth (Goray) Wells

Florance Elizabeth Wells, age 78 of Toronto passed away Saturday, February 21,2026 at the Dixon Health Care Center, Wintersville.

She was a former member of the Hill Top Presbyterian Church; she always liked baking and making candy at Christmas time; she liked going to car shows and she loved making crafts like stuffed bunnies.

Florence worked at several businesses throughout the local area and was most proud of being a tutor of those studying for their GEDs.

She was born July 14, 1947 in Steubenville the daughter of the late Lawrence and Florence “Dutch” (Galloway) Goray. Florence was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Benton Wells, Jr. whom she married July 17, 1965; sister, Nancy Goray and brother Larry Goray.

Florence’s surviving family includes: sons, Roy B. Wells III and wife Jennifer, Matthew Wells and wife Tina and Andrew Wells and wife Jean; grandchildren, Kevin Rawson and wife Amber, Ryan Wells, Dana Wells, Andrew Wells, great granddaughter, Jade Rawson and sisters-in-law Dorothy Goray and Barb Joyce.

Friends and family will gather for visitation 3 to 7 PM Thursday February 26th at the Clarke Funeral Home, Toronto.

A celebration service of Florence’s life will be celebrated at 11 AM Friday February 27th with officiant the Reverend Jane Schockey.  Interment at the Island Creek Cemetery will follow services.
